Overview
For over 40 years BEC EQUIPMENT has been supplying and selling JCB parts, as well as providing service for the off-highway equipment industry “Where Quality Matters”. BEC Equipment is looking for knowable and self-motivated Construction Heavy Equipment Licenced Mechanic with excellent knowledge of construction equipment including air compressors, generators, drive units, and related components. The candidate must have a valid 421-A license, excellent knowledge of diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues that commonly occur with heavy equipment. Must know about local regulations regarding inspection and maintenance of installations, function, construction, and operation of generators, instrumentation, controls, and drive units. We are looking for someone who can face a new challenge, demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and travel/work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities & Duties
DIESEL ENGINE REPAIR SPECIALIZATION:
- Fuel Injection System / Exhaust System / Cooling System
- Air Conditioning System/Engine Control System
MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR SPECIALIZATION:
- Mechanical/Hydraulic Transmissions
- Drive Trains/Final Drives
- Differentials
- Power Take-Offs
- Tracked Vehicles Suspensions
- Wheel-Mounted Vehicle Suspension/Steering
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Organize Tools / Equipment / Other Materials Safely / Effectively
- Prepare Heavy Equipment / Essential Responsibilities for Repairs as Outlined
- Identify/Order Parts to Complete Repairs
- Carry out Repairs, Modifications Rebuild Servicing, Maintenance/Range of Heavy Equipment
- Carry out Diagnostics of Faults and Carry out Remedial Work
- Express a Strong Level of Professionalism/Communication at all Levels
- Self–Motivated, Enthusiastic, and Keen to Learn
- Flexible Approach to Work and Able to Demonstrate an Ability to Work Effectively in a Fast-paced Environment
- Excellent Problem-Solving Skills

- Troubleshoot / Inspect Equipment to Detect Faults / Malfunctions
- Diagnose Faults/Malfunctions Using Computerized/Other Testing Equipment to Determine the Extent of Repairs Required
- Adjust Equipment and Repair / Replace Defective Parts
- Test Repaired Equipment for Proper Performance and to Ensure that Work Meets Manufacturers’ Specifications
- Clean / Lubricate/Perform Other Maintenance Work
- Service Attachments and Working Tools
Work Conditions
- Permanent Employment
- Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 4.00 PM
- 42.5 Hours/Week
- Physical Capabilities: Physically Demanding Bending/ Crouching/ Kneeling
- Tools: Must-own tools and steel-toed safety boots
- Weight Handling: Up to 45kg (100lbs)
Requires Knowledge & Awareness of Following Tasks
- Speak English
- Requires valid 421-a Heavy Equipment Technician License
- 5 Years or more Experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience Servicing the Following is an Asset:
– JCB, Doosan, Wacker Neuson, Atlas Copco
– John Deere powertrain and Kohler engines
